What is the average IQ test score for a population?

From the above-mentioned statistical properties of the standard normal deviation, we know that about 68% of the population should achieve IQ test scores between 84 and 116 points (i.e. the mean of 100 + or – 16), while just over 95% of the population would have IQ test scores between 68 and 132 (i.e. 100 + or – 2 x 16), and 99.7% of the population would score between 52 and 148.
