I hate stackoverflow and recommend to avoid it completely. I used to participate there, before community went donwhill with “upholding rules in the name of rules” attitude. I believe as of now my reputation score there is over 20k, due to past contribution. The positive thing about the whole experience is that I realized that programmer should have social skills as well. In 2008 it was a good place. Right now it no longer is.
Currently there are no good sites and communities to learn programming. Normally a good place to learn basic stuff would be any forums with a couple programmers hanging around, but this style of communication seems to be going extinct. There’s no replacement.
I’d recommend to stick with books, your own brain, practice, and google searches.
