How do you remove write protection on a hard drive?

Method 2. Apply Diskpart Command to Disable Write Protection

  1. Type diskpart and hit Enter.
  2. Type list disk and hit Enter.
  3. Step 3: Select the device which is now “Write-Protected” and click “Disable” to remove the protection.
  4. Open Registry by clicking “Start” > Type regedit in the Run dialog > Click “OK”.
