How are assembler directives used in the data definition?

In the data definition informs assembler that the value of the variable is not known and hence, it is not to be initialized. This directive informs assembler to reserve five bytes of consecutive memory space for the variable named ARRAY. The memory locations are to be initialized with the values 32, 42, 59, 67 and 83.
